Someone recently gave me a beat up AMT 58 Impala kit in several zip-lock bags. My first conclusion was loose the roof and do a convertible except that the front windshield frames gone as is all the "glass". I've decided to do a "vintage" style show car using what's left of the kit and parts from the junk pile. So far this is what I think I'm looking to do. Custom dash and interior and chromed tri-carb version of the stock motor both supplied in the kit. Narrow bias-ply tires with smoothy hub caps from the scrap box because they are clean and timeless. I pulled another wrap around windshield from the parts box also which i intend to slice down for that 60s show car futuristic look. Made a template for a tonneau cover with some basic scoop shapes to hide the stock rear seats. Use the custom front and rear treatments from the kit. Guess I need to shave the whole body of trim and I might pancake the hood or even make a new hood using the rear of the roof with the cool impala vent in it. Think it would make a great looking hood scoop. Look forward to any feedback or ideas on this project. Please don't expect frequent updates. I have several projects going at a time plus a life. LOL! Heres a pic of my initial idea "fitted" together.
