enamel paint.

Hi everyone. I have a question concerning enamel vs lacquer paints. I painted a model with enamel paint and it came out decent,however, the paints looks like it needs more. Can i paints a couple layers of clear lacquer over the paint for better results or should i use my LMG polishing kit and wet sand the enamel paint. I read that you should not polish enamel. Will wet sanding ruin the enamel finish?? thanks, Bob
